17 years of hand-stuff stuck to the steering wheel and shift knob. Just sticky enough to gross me out, so I put on a steering wheel cover and changed out the shift knob and boot with some of ebay’s highest quality offerings:
The giant set-screw is ridiculous, but for the price, it works. Now everything in the car that I have to touch is new and clean. Something tells me that shift boot will not stay clean for long, though.
Next up, I hit a snag while trying to install the steel skid plate “kit” that I ordered.

Problem solved.

By ordered skid plate do you mean road sign found abandoned?

Probably should have done that instead

I’ve never been a fan of wheel covers...I always worry that they could slide ‘around’ the wheel in an emergency if you try to spin the wheel quickly in an emergency or some such. No chance of finding a used
decently priced replacement wheel on Ebay or one at a local pick and pull yard?

It feels pretty tight. If there's ever a hint of slippage, I'll take it off since that thought had occurred to me too.
